I have a deep and resonant voice, or so I have been told. As with most people, I disagree; I think my recorded voice sounds irritating and fey, but I guess that's not for me to judge. At any rate, I get a lot of comments at the office about my voice, many of them the kind of thing one would consider inappropriate for the workplace. And that's just the voice mail from HR.

Right now I have a cold, a real ass-kicker. This has taken my voice to new depths, levels normally only heard in recordings of tectonic plates grinding together, serious subsonics. No-one can understand me at all. A friend said to me, "I can see your lips moving and hear some kind of rumbling, but I can't understand a word you are saying. Maybe it would help if you crossed your legs real tight so people could hear you."
