Let X = X
When it first aired I was a fan of The X-Files. Therefore, given the number of DVDs I've collected it may be surprising to learn that I had never bought the boxed sets. It wasn't lack of interest; frankly, $100-140 for each of nine seasons just seemed a touch unreasonable. Now that Fox has released the sets in a new "economy" format — only $50 each, but without some of the special features — I starting thinking of picking them up, but I still wasn't sold.
Costco came to my rescue, though. They have the original $100+ sets (probably mis-marked) at $43 each. I could get the extra features and interviews and such at the discounted price. But still, nine sets?
Hey, I needed to do some therapy shopping, anyway.

Oh my, the things guys will buy. :-) Do they have Manolo Blahnik heels at Costco?
What's your favorite episode? My knickname used to be Scully until I gave up the red and went back to brunette.
I doubt Costco has your namesake shoes, my dear, but I'll look the next time I'm there.
As far as a favorite episode, I couldn't really say. Strangely, though, the episodes I enjoyed the most weren't the "mythology" stories, but the strange and humorous one-offs, like the one set in Gibsonton featuring the Jim Rose Circus.
Okay, Manola is always making me smile or laugh. Damn it's true, I can see it! Therapy shopping, as bad as it is we all do it, yes? Probably shouldn't but hell, $50 ain't gonna make the difference. Hope it has tons of bonus features!
Wow. I've never even seen a single episode of x-files. I'd walk right by that at Costco without even noticing, let alone making a decision about it. Ha.
As an aside, I find myself considering which books are in my blood, at least as a top ten list. Hard as hell... I'll send you a list if you're still doing a back and forth with this. -J
My ex-file watching buddy and I would always get pissed off when they gave us yet another 'worm' episode, straying from the mythology. The humorous and eclectic episodes, however, are indeed classic and enjoyable to watch over and over again. Remember the Lily Tomlin/Ed Anser one? The mad scientist who bred animals and people (wasn't Cher in that one)? I also love the one with Peter Boyles, the psychic insurance salesman who could predict death. Oh, and the Lone Gunman dying ... so sad.
Enjoy your collection!
(Actually I should check Costco for the Sex and the City collection ... stupid reruns on TV are so edited!)
