I have had this recurring dream since I was a child. There are actually a few of them, repetitive images and scenes, stock footage if you like, churned around into themes to suit the arcane needs of my unconscious mind. It is as if someone is remixing my persona on a nightly basis. The frequency is irregular, though, largely unpredictable; this particular dream I haven't had for months. I wonder what it means?
Probably nothing. As I said, I've had this dream since childhood.

I have recurring dreams all the time. Over time I have realized that they are unresolved issues. Life is a book. What you did a year ago, five years ago, ten years ago is written in the book. When today's ink is put to paper and the book is closed (sleep), the ink falls to the front and back. Ink from previous years mixes in with today's ink, tomorrow's as well. All is connected. Your mind is trying to make sense of the past, present and future. Everything is happening at the same time. All your future selves and past selves are dreaming at the same time, just enjoy the theatrical performance. Sometimes though, there are warnings - your future can be changed. I have a few recurring dreams, too, since childhood. But the one that freaks me the most is one I began having in 1996. I dreamt I was pregnant. It felt so real - I could swear that I felt the baby move and everything. The dream always ended with my going into labor and having the baby. Even that part felt real and painful - I'd wake up with an aching belly.
Here's the thing, though: whenever I've had the dream to completion (my giving birth), within two weeks, someone in my family would find out they were pregnant. It began with my first niece, and I've had the dream through one more niece, a nephew, and 5 cousins. It got so that I would place a phone call to someone, and they'd take a test based on what I told them. And it'd be positive.
The last time I had the dream, it wasn't just that I gave birth. I held the baby and carried it and continued out a whole post-partum scene. And within a couple of weeks, I found out I was pregnant.
I haven't had the dream since, but no one in my family's been pregnant, either.
