99.8 and falling
So one reason I don't post stuff about my health other than the occasional humorous* bit is this: by the time it looks serious enough to warrant a disclosure, I start to get better. It's as though posting loosens some phlegmatic wad in my psyche and starts me on the road to recovery.
Not that I'm healed yet, mind you, but my fever is steadily below 100°, and I can breathe from time to time. As long as I haven't suffered too much brain damage, I guess I'll be okay. And if my mental capacity has been impaired, you'll be able to tell easily enough: I'll start supporting Frankie Bolaños' campaign.

Oh, no, not fever brain damage at Hidden City!
Bolanos: Support my fight against Godless anti-Cuban Communist Liberals and their corrosive children's books. Whaddya say?
Hidden City Fever Zombie: Vamos... a... brainssss.
I am not any kind of medical professional, but your symptoms sound like mine when I had pneumonia (twice). Can you touch your chin to your chest? Do you also have a rash? In any case, you've had a fever for too long not to go to the doctor...and there's no hypochondriasis involved in having a fever for 5 days. Let them give you a broad-spectrum antibiotic and some prescription-strength decongestants, at least, you poor thing!
BTW, I found your blog accidentally and was surprised to see mention of perpetual September (oh, my old rec.pets.herp/sci.bio herp days...I remember them so well), and I was also at the Steely Dan/Michael McDonald concert (my seats were great, and everything sounded fine!). I had no idea about the extent of the Miami blogosphere. I have felt so alone, until recently. I swear, I thought everyone here was nearly completely illiterate!
If there's ever another get-together, I'd love to know. In the meantime, feel better soon...
Yeah, it does sound like pneumonia. The doctors should do a chest x-ray if they haven't yet. If it's bacterial it won't go away without antibiotics. The Flor de CaƱa teraphy won't do.
Get well
"Phlegmatic Wad." Think I saw them open up for Pulp a few years back.
Hope you feel better soon.
Glad to hear you're getting better! :-)
Steve Klotz should be consulted. He knows about the effect of heat on the brain!!!!
