Mustang Bobby of Bark Bark Woof Woof reminds us that Newt Gingrich wants to run for the presidency. Topping his list of priorities is correcting the First Amendment so that it doesn't apply during an eternal war against an undefined enemy.
Over at recent blogroll addition Same Thing, But Different, Joke gives his take on holiday preparations. As you might (or might not) assume from his non du blog, Joke's style is light and humorous, but still insightful.
I retain fond childhood memories of picking out a live Christmas tree, bringing it home, and decorating it. However, years of apartment dwelling broke me of that habit. Jen's very funny story reminds me why I made that decision.

Got a question for you... on your blogroll, why do some blogs have crosses before and after their names? Does it mean anything?
Glad you enjoyed the story. It was even funny to me afterwards, although during, not so much. Ha.
I've always been a bit of a Christmas curmudgeon - no trees, no decorations, etc.
Being married has changed that though. We don't have kids yet, but my wife, being a kindergarten teacher, loves the season and decorates as though we're doing it for a house full of children. So slowly but surely I'm getting into the spirit.
Next year, I might even buy a real tree.
BTW, if I was still living alone, Jen's story would sit atop my pile of excuses for not decorating.
Tere, the crosses just indicate that Blogrolling thinks they've updated within the last 48 hours.
James, my concession has been holiday music, usually the kind of remixed and whacked-out versions that drive Jen insane. I used to put up outside lights, but my neighborhood problems have robbed me of any desire to do that.
And Jen, having met you I got additional amusement from imagining your elfin self struggling with that gigantic tree.
Marc, I hate to do this to you during holiday season, but you, my friend have been tagged! Please tell me you weren't already plagued (oops! I mean tagged;>) by this meme.
