It isn't over
The AIDS pandemic is still terrifyingly real. In 2005 alone, 2.6 million people died from this disease; over 25 million have died since tracking began in 1988. Even worse, over 40 million people are living with AIDS, but only 1.3 million people have any access at all to treatment.
It doesn't get much press now; I guess the epidemic's fifteen minutes are up. Without a big media push and the involvement of an A-list celebrity, it's tough to get people to care.
Anyone who is connected enough to read these words has been touched by AIDS; it is unavoidable.
Since today is World AIDS Day, take a moment to think about how the pandemic has affected your life.

It is terribly tragic that we still seem to be no closer to a cure and this cause doesn't get the airtime it should.
Good post. People don't talk about it much anymore.
You hear standup comics even joking about AIDS like it's been cured already or something.
On that topic though I have to confess I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist. I swear I think the govt. has had a cure for AIDS for years now. It's just better business to not fully cure it.
I know, it's nuts. But I can't help but suspect it.
