Sweeping up
"Next to a circus there ain't nothing that packs up and tears out faster than the Christmas spirit." — Kin Hubbard (1868-1930)
The days after Christmas are always a bit awkward, and a bit melancholy. Once the gift-giving is over, leaving behind the impending doom of credit card statements, the real world reasserts itself, and we find ourselves staring down the requisite end of year soul-searching. If it was a good year, this isn't a big deal. If not, well...
There were seasonal stories I drafted, but never got time to complete. Sure, I could publish them in January or February, but what would be the point? Instead I'm trying to finish them up and put them away for next year. The post about my turn as an MC, though, may see daylight sooner than that. And I failed to share any of my oddball collection of Christmas music with you.
Okay, maybe you should be thankful for that one.
If you chose to celebrate, I hope your holiday was to your taste. If not, I hope you at least got a good story out of it.
