What's on your portable music device? Something from the Gay Bands list, perhaps?
Oddly enough, this list is a tool to help young people and their parents avoid music which might inspire them to walk on the wild side. I think it's serious, not parody, but in the 21st Century it can be so hard to tell.
Some choices are obvious (Elton John), some are just odd (Morton Subotnik), and some make me think his readers are messing with him (Motorhead). However, I question the motivation behind his use of an Oscar Wilde quote on the site, and describing old Oscar as a "reformed homosexual."

This list is hysterical! I couldn't stop laughing. The best part, though, is the plea for help at the end, "If you know of a band that is Gay or propogating [sic] a Gay message please email us," followed by "The response is overwhelming. You guys know of a lot more Gay Bands than I do."
I think we should all email them with the down low on more "Gay Bands"(TM). I'm thinking some Finnish heavy metal followed by some Crunk.
My thoughts the same, NFK. I like how Elton is noted to be REALLY gay.
He forgot Neil Diamond, Judy Garland, Paul Anka, Englebert Humerdinck, George Michael, Common, Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Toby Keith, and the Dixie Chicks.

I'm thinking they skipped completely over anything rational here. He's also unfairly targetting only popular music performers. Lots of composers and song writers were gay. What about Benjamin Britten? Stephen Sonheim? Tchaikovsky? Vladimir Horowitz? What about Aaron Copeland? Leonard Bernstien?
And if a performer uses a song by a gay composer or songwriter, are they automatically gay?

Let's spread the word and get all of our friends to just start sending them all the bands we can think of. Because, really, somewhere in the production process, there was a gay person involved somewhere. And, surely, at the very least, that's gayness by association!

Proof?
Read any biography of Oscar Wilde. His accusers were in their early teens, telegraph boys and hotel porters, whom he seduced with expensive presents. He also frequented houses of prostitution set up for pedophiles like himself. And before his death he asked for a priest who received his last confession and gave him extreme unction. Of course he would not have received absolution unless he repented of his public sins.
