The score
[My apologies for the delay, but I'm dealing with more work-oriented weirdness that is the custom for this time of year.]
So as far as picking the Oscars go, we — the collective readership of Hidden City — have no compelling reason to head to Vegas. Comparing the results of our polling against the Academy's winners, we matched on only 11 of 24 categories. Of course, I'm certain that our choices were more carefully considered than the political motivations of the Academy voters. No, really.
However, I want to recognize a few voters who were dragged down by our collective scores. Alex of Stuck on the Palmetto scored the most, with fourteen correct; he was followed closely by Alan, who used his insider scoop to pick thirteen winners. In third place we have a three-way tie, with an anonymous voter, the erudite and indefatigable NicFitKid, and the always enchanting Tere [link] scoring twelve each. The rest of us... well, the less said, the better.
Thank you to those who participated. It was nice to see some new names in the inbox, so to Melissa, Madi, Paloma, Freddie, Dawn, DeJope, Old Man, and the anonymous voters — I hope you'll stick around and comment again!

I'm kind of sorry I didn't play this now, because it turns out I won the Oscar pool here at work. Using the time-honoured "Eeny-Meeny-Miny-Moe" method. Congratulations to all the winners!
Congrats to the winners!
Can I get a banner, anyway? I'm having a good blogger day, so I'd like to keep the momentum going! ;-)
Twelve points, so that's good for, say, twelve bottles of booze, right? Where do I cash in, I want to forget my own name this weekend.
Yay! Alan Arkin rules baby! The rest was my absolute, unrequited love for Pan's Labyrynth, which the myopic academy refused to award, instead giving the prize to an insufferable movie no one will remember one year from now. But hey. Won the party pool as well!
As the location manager for "Bring It On 4: The Curse of the Spirit Stick" technically I am an "insider," but it doesn't feel that way.
