Proper preparations
Back in the '60s getting ready for Hallowe'en involved deciding what you were going to be, and trying to not to go mad with anticipation of the day itself. In later, less halcyon days, preparations included watching a safety film in school.
Jason, of the marvelous Hallowe'en recording Scar Stuff, actually acted in one of these short films back in 1977. After considerable effort he tracked down a copy of and made it available 1977's Halloween Safety and made it available on his site. In 1985 they released Halloween Safety [Second Edition], displaying slicker production values and the same message.
Both are short films, and well worth the viewing by those readers with an appreciation for low budget educational films, or who may just wonder about my fascination with the holiday.

How are you feeling K? Glad to see you put up a Halloween post.
Wow - what a trip down memory lane. The only thing missing was the "clackety" film projector that always got stuck.
Aside: what the hell kind of parent lets their kid go trick-or-treating alone at night in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas?? That's how abductions happen!
mkh is back in hallowe'en mood once again... great.
ha, i never heard of educational hallowe'en safety films!
"it seems as if she's collecting more bumps and bruises than candy tonight" hehe. classy.
