For those looking for something to do today, the King Mango Strut will be held a few short hours from now in Coconut Grove. I've attended many times in the past and looked forward to going again this year, but forces have conspired against me. I hope someone takes good pictures!

As for tomorrow, you're on your own. I have to work during the day, and my current mood precludes me from taking up any of the many kind and generous evening invitations offered by beautiful and intelligent local women. (Offers, it should be said, that leave me somewhat baffled.) I'll be spending New Year's Eve alone in my bunker preparing for my New Year's Day ritual.

Said ritual, for those new to Hidden City, is going to Haulover Beach to watch the sun rise on a new year. I've been doing this for several years now, and while it is an admitted pain in the ass to get up that early — sunrise this year is 7:07 — it does provide the illusion that the year is beginning on a productive note. What better way to start 2008 than with a little self-deception?!
