Sticky situation

Seattle has an odd landmark: the Wall of Gum near the famous Market. Stranger still is that it seems it is not the original, but rather a copycat of Bubble Gum Alley in San Luis Obispo. Competing walls where people stick their used chewing gum? There must be some sort of odd symbolism there.

And yes, this is a bit of time-marking while I work on another project.

thats very odd, kind of gross and disgusting, yet at the same time it makes me kind of want to fly out to Seattle, chew some gum and then just STICK it on this wall.

Haven't visited in a while. Hope things are well. Look forward to the rest of your Seattle posts. I love that city and its overcast skies, though the Wall of Gum has always freaked me out a little.

I just returned from Atlanta. We took the skycar up to the top of Stone Mountain and walked our way down. Near the bottom, I noticed two wooden telephone poles with a similar gum mosaic. Most of it, of course, was from about seven feet down to the ground. Somehow, someone managed to stick a few pieces unbelievably high up on the pole. It was beautifully disgusting. Email me if you want a copies of the pictures I took. chuckfield2003@yahoo.com
